Lillie Mae Hester-Atkism

February 4, 1936 - February 6, 2021

Lillie Mae Hester Atkism, age 85, of Monroe, GA passed away on February 6, 2021. She was born on February 4, 1936 in Morgan County, GA, to the late James Hosie Hester and the late Lugenia Perrimon Hester. She graduated from Carver High School in class of 1955 in Monroe, Ga. . Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, James Roosevelt Atkism.; Sons James Eric Atkism and Christoper Reginald Atkism sister, Mary Alice Owens and brothers Lester Hester, Walter Hester and Levoe Hester. She was a member of First African Baptist Church of Monroe, Ga. but was a faithful member of Arnold Chapel Baptist Church of Monroe, Ga, where her son Morris R. Atkism is the Pastor. She was a loving sister to her surviving sister Learmy Malcolm loving niece to her Aunt Frances that she called weekly ,mother, grandmother & great- grandmother. She loved to spend her free time with puzzle books, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and making 20 or 30 calls a week asking "I just called to check on you . Her passion was talking to her grandkids daily and she always said "if I could have had my grandkids first my kids wouldn't be here" and in the end it proved to be so true because her grandkids went above and beyond 24/7 they would never leave her side and wanted to know when is my scheduled time to stay! She loved God, her family and cooking, the meeting place for her grandkids friends were at her house and their parents would always ask is it ok for my sons to be there bothering you and her answer would always be "I would rather they are here bothering me than to know they are in the street and I don;t know where they are and what they are doing! They were always at her house from a NFL star to the young man that is getting his Doctorate ! She loved cooking when they were there and they always wanted to leave until her grandson Ty said "grandmama want all you'll to eat before you leave." Surviving members of Mrs. Atkism family are her daughters, Debra Atkism, Zina Atkism, Pastors Michelle (Howard) Jackson, Tamika Atkism sons Michael (Diane) Hester, Mark Atkism, Pastor Morris (Sabrina) Atkism, Terrence Atkism a host of grandkids, great grandkids, neices, nephews, great neices and great nephews. Sister in laws Runell Hester and Birda Hester, Brother in law Bob Owens.
