Lovett Raymond Law

October 29, 1923 - March 10, 2022

Lovett Raymond Law was born in Commerce, Georgia on October 29,1923. He departed this life on March 10, 2022. He was the oldest son of the late Bud Law and Maggie Bell Colbert Law. Lovett was an elder and member of Sardis Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of John Town School in Commerce, Georgia then attended Stillman Industrial School of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Soon after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in World War II and the Korean Conflict for a total of ten and half years. He served as a part-time police officer in Jefferson, Georgia from 1969-1973. He also served with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and then as bailiff for Jackson County Court from June 1, 1973 until retirement in 2013. On December 26, 1953 Lovett married Lucille Moon. During this 68-year union, they had five children, two of which preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing: three children, Mary Burley(Bobby), Dennis Law, and Dee Vinson(Ronnie); thirteen grandchildren, Heidi, Hollye(Jimmy), Ray, Ryan, Britany, Joshua, Whitney, Michael, Anthony, Borekis(Tiffany), Dexter, Scott and Michael(Kathy); nine great-grandchildren; one sister Sammie Sue Rucker, one brother George Thomas Law(Rachel) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Three brothers preceded him in death.
